BREAST IMPLANT INFORMATION
During a visit with Dr. Andreasen, the various options regarding breast augmentation will be discussed. Some of these include breast implant filling and texture. The size of the implants is highly dependent on the results you would like to , which will be discussed and determined during a consultation.
Dr. Andreasen offers patients two types of breast implants: saline and silicone gel. Based on your anatomy and desired outcome, our breast surgery specialist will recommend the most appropriate choice. Both saline and silicone implants come in either smooth or textured shells. Saline implants are either expandable or pre-filled with a fixed volume of a sterile saltwater solution, whereas silicone breast implants are already filled with a cohesive gel.
Incisions for saline implants can be placed in the crease under the breast, around the areola (nipple), in the armpit, or in the belly button (“transumbilical incision” or “TUBA”). However, due to silicone implants being pre-filled, they can only be inserted through the breast crease and nipple incision. In addition to these choices, you and Dr. Andreasen will also discuss the implant placement – above or beneath the breast muscle – during your appointment.
