Perky, round, and symmetrical breasts are often seen as the desired breast profile. However, the weight of the breasts combined with a decrease in skin elasticity can cause breasts to sag. Many women struggle with sagging breasts due to the natural aging process and other factors. In this blog, we discuss the internal bra lift, a relatively new breast lift technique that offers substantial support to the breasts and long-lasting rejuvenation results.

Breast Lift Surgery

Even though many of us try to stop aging signs from occurring, it is still a natural and inevitable part of life. Our bodies are not immune to gravity, and unfortunately, in regards to breasts, the loss of skin elasticity due to aging can result in a sagging appearance. This often causes the breast profile to have a deflated, droopy look. Additionally, other factors like pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss, breast size, and genetics can also contribute to sagging breasts.

Many women dislike having saggy breasts, especially because this can make them appear older than they really are. Droopy breasts can make it difficult to find clothing that fits properly on the chest in a flattering way. On top of that, excess breast skin can cause uncomfortable chafing and irritation.

Fortunately, you don’t have to accept your sagging skin’s fate. Breast lift surgery offers an option to restore elevated, youthful breasts. Many women choose to get a breast lift to enhance their breasts and boost their confidence. Each procedure is tailored to fit the patient’s body and desired aesthetic. Different types of breast lift techniques offer various perks, and the best option will depend on the individual.

The Internal Bra Breast Lift

A fairly new and groundbreaking plastic surgery technique that has changed the landscape for breast procedures is the internal bra lift. This technique inserts a mesh scaffold onto the chest wall to act as an internal bra and support the breast tissue. The internal bra lift allows for enhanced breast lift results, as the mesh provides a stronger structure and more support to the breasts over the years, even as skin elasticity decreases. An internal bra can be inserted for a breast lift, breast augmentation, or breast reduction procedure.

How Is the Internal Bra Breast Lift Different From a Traditional Breast Lift?

Many people have heard of breast lift surgery, but not as many are familiar with the internal bra breast lift. The main difference is that the internal bra lift uses a mesh scaffold for additional breast support, while the traditional breast lift does not. A traditional breast lift involves repositioning breast tissue, lifting the nipple-areolar complex, and trimming excess breast skin. The internal bra breast lift may involve these steps from the traditional lift but with the addition of inserting the mesh scaffold for internal support.

It is important to note that both the traditional breast lift and the internal bra breast lift are designed to lift sagging breasts and rejuvenate the overall appearance. However, depending on the extent of skin laxity and the desired outcome, some patients may be better suited for one approach over the other.

How Does the Internal Bra Breast Lift Work?

The specific details for your procedure will be included in your customized treatment plan after you are confirmed to be a good candidate. Before your surgery begins, you’ll be given anesthesia to make for a more comfortable experience.

Your surgeon will create incisions around the breasts in the locations that were decided during the consultation. The breast tissue will be adjusted to create the desired breast contour, and the mesh scaffold will be inserted to support the breasts.

Many internal bra lifts use a GalaFLEX™ Scaffold mesh implant as the internal structure. The mesh implant is inserted into the chest and attached to the chest wall, allowing it to act as an internal push-up bra for the breasts. The GalaFLEX™ Scaffold is designed to be absorbed by the body over time, which typically takes one to one and a half years. Once it is absorbed, the breasts will still stay in their elevated position due to the strong structure the implant provides.

After all the necessary adjustments have been made, your surgeon will drape the breast skin over the newly shaped breasts and trim excess skin. The incisions will then be closed, and you will have firmer, lifted breasts.

Who Is a Good Candidate for an Internal Bra Lift?

Candidates for the internal bra lift are typically women who are dealing with severe breast ptosis and have poor skin elasticity. In many cases, women who have undergone significant weight loss or pregnancy can benefit greatly from this procedure. The best way to determine if the internal bra lift is right for you is to schedule a consultation with a reputable, board-certified surgeon.
